What do missed calls cost your business?
Plug in your own figures to estimate the revenue riding on calls that go unanswered. The math runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent or saved.
Your estimate
- Missed calls per month
- –
- Revenue at risk per month
- –
- Revenue at risk per year
- –
- Potentially recoverable
- –
Formula: calls × missed % × close rate × customer value. It assumes missed callers would have bought at the same rate as answered ones, which may not hold for your business. Treat it as a rough guide, not a forecast.
Where to find your numbers
- Calls per month and missed share: your phone system or carrier's call logs usually show answered, missed and voicemail counts. If they don't, a few weeks of call tracking will.
- Close rate: of the calls you answer from new prospects, how many become paying customers? A CRM or a simple tally sheet works.
- Customer value: use the average first purchase for a conservative number, or lifetime value if repeat business is common.
Not every missed call is a lost sale. Some people call back, some leave a voicemail you return in time, and some were never going to buy. That's why the optional recovery field is there. For a deeper look at the reasoning, read the real cost of a missed call.
